Thank you so much to everyone who has sent in supplies! They just show up in my room so I am not sure who to thank so I hope all the donors read this :-)
Kindergarten- Students worked with a partner to put pony beads on a pipe cleaner to match different numerals. This helped their number sense and their fine motor skills :-)The students enjoyed this and all materials can be found in the crafting section at Walmart for under $5. We also did some problem solving using patterns.
1st Grade- The first graders are blowing me away with the things they come up with in number talks! We had a ten-frame scavenger hunt to work on subitizing. We also did some problem solving using addition and subtraction.
2nd & 3rd Grade- We used a 100s chart to help us use the count on by 1 strategy with bigger numbers. We also used a graphic organizer to write constructed responses about the problems we solved last week.
4th & 5th Grade- We used a 0-200 number line to help us skip count by 10s and 5s by various numbers to help the students see it would always take twice as many jumps when we count by 5s. The activity really helped students understand why "Solving 5 facts using your 10 facts" works. Students completed a chart that also helped them use this strategy and see that the product of a number multiplied by 5 will always be half if that same factor is multiplied by 10. We also used a graphic organizer to help us write constructed responses about the problem we had solved in the previous lesson.
